The opioid crisis continues to plague the nation, and Florida is no exception. Despite the unwanted side effects and risks associated with opioids, these medications are often still overprescribed in the surgical setting. Come to this session and learn about alternatives to opioids and hear about updates related to anesthesia and Covid-19.


About the Speaker

Adam Boyd is the executive vice president of Executive Anesthesia. 

Adam is a seasoned clinical professional and operational leader with extensive experience in ambulatory surgical centers as well as tertiary and community acute care facilities. He is passionate about the propagation of opioid-sparing and opioid-free techniques as well as the seamless integration of these techniques into the fast-paced ambulatory surgical environment.

Most recently Adam has lectured nationally on opioid-sparing techniques, the regional anesthesia value stream, and entrepreneurship in anesthesia. Adam holds Master's Degrees in Critical Care and Anesthesiology from Emory University and Florida International University, respectively, and a Doctorate in Health Administration from the University of Mississippi.

He currently serves as the State Reimbursement Specialist for the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists and holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor at the University of North Florida.
